In response to the first call for Arctic Five Chairs, a total of 36 applications were received from candidates coming from all Arctic Five partner universities.
Applications from eligible candidates will now be assessed by an Evaluation Board comprised of a representative from each of the Arctic Five partner universities, and two representatives from outside the network. The board will be chaired by Co-director of the Arctic Five, Professor Dag Avango.
“One can refer to this as a small success story, considering that the call and the entire Arctic Five Chairs concept was at the blueprint stage in August 2021. With an impressive number of applications received to this call, members of the Evaluation Board will now convened to begin the selection process.”
Following the evaluation, the board will submit their final recommendations to the Executive Team of the Arctic Five, who will review the recommendations and decide on the final list of chairs to be appointed. Following contact with the listed appointees, the Rectors from each Arctic Five partner university will confirm the appointments.
All candidates will be informed on the final status of their application by March 7th, while the Secretariat of the Arctic Five is seeking to secure that the appointed Chairs are announced and presented at an event during the Arctic Science Summit Week / 26 March – 1 April 2022.
