Arctic Five arranged the summer school Urban Arctic for Arctic PhD students in Kiruna in August of 2021.

Students from different backgrounds; anthropologists, architects, business and history scientists, lawyers and planners, came together for a week in the Swedish Arctic. All participants’ research subject was somehow related to the main topic: How sustainable development in resource territories is shaped by local and global trends, with focus on the arctic region.

Moa Mattson shared her experience from the week. Read about the several focus areas, the history that’s vanishing, arctic architecture, Sámi culture and arctic societies in her story.
